Estate administration services

Get in touch

To talk to us about an estate administration case please get in touch by phone or email, or refer your client to us via our online referral form.

One of our expert team will confirm next steps and complete our usual client on-boarding process, including advising of next steps and likely costs based on the nature of the estate involved.

How much does it cost?

Every estate is different and there can be a wide range of factors that influence the work required during the estate administration. We will provide a detailed quote and confirm the referral fee (or client discount) available as part of our client onboarding process. We will also keep you informed of any changes should any new factors come to light. The examples below show typical costs depending on the complexity of an estate.

Why choose Clarke Willmott?

When you refer a client to us for estate administration services you can be assured that we will not only expertly and efficiently manage the administration of the estate, but where your client requires wider legal expertise and advice, we will be able to provide a comprehensive service tailored to their unique needs.

Probate is part of the jigsaw that families need to think about when someone dies. They will also need to consider future aspects including tax planning and structures to maximise intergenerational wealth retention.  We can do this because we have tax, trust and accounting experts in our team.

Clarke Willmott is a full service, national law firm and our team of private client solicitors is one of the most extensive and experienced in the UK. Made up of specialists in all areas of private wealth law including estate and succession planning, trusts and tax, family law, residential property and dispute resolution, we provide truly integrated legal advice to our clients.

We have built a strong reputation for assisting and advising wealthy individuals and families, including landowners, family business owners and entrepreneurs, working with them to manage, grow and safeguard their family and business wealth. Our clients include individuals who are based in the UK and have international interests, and those who live overseas with interests in the UK.

Below are just some of the additional areas we can advise on as part of the administration of an estate:

Tax planning

We can advise on all aspects of UK taxation including inheritance tax, income tax and capital gains tax, as well as tax matters relating to commercial and property transactions – including disposal of land and property assets.

Estate planning

We can assist clients in ensuring the transfer of wealth from generation to generation is effective, tax-efficient and protects long term family prosperity.

Trusts

We can advise on the use of trusts to protect family wealth for future generations, reducing the inter-generational cascade of inheritance tax and ensuring bloodline protection for an estate from outside claims. We also have a dedicated team of trust administrators responsible for the day-to-day running of existing trusts.

Overseas Assets

We can liaise with overseas lawyers where an estate has non-UK property to ensure the whole estate is administered correctly and efficiently.

Drafting Wills

We can advise beneficiaries with drafting Wills to ensure their wishes are met and family provided for tax efficiently and to protect the family wealth for generations to come.

Will disputes

We can advise executors on how to deal with an estate if a claim is made by another person. We can also advise on challenging a Will if you have been left out or think it is not correct.

Keeping you updated

Estate administration can be complicated and take a long time to complete. We will copy you in on all key milestone correspondence to your client, as outlined below. If you’d prefer to be updated differently, please get in touch.
