Technology pervades every area of modern life. Its impact ranges from head-line grabbing news about IT surveillance by international bodies such as NSA to more mundane concerns such as the security of on-line transactions, employees getting caught making inappropriate comments on Twitter and YouTube and massive IT disputes.
The ICT practice works closely with the IP team on issues such as patent law and industrial design relating to the development and licensing of hi-tech products and copyright in software and in relation to on-line infringement of IP rights, for example where counterfeit products are offered for sale over eBay.
Our clients include specialist software developers, website solutions providers, brand owners, public and private sector organisations acquiring large scale ICT systems or with outsourcing requirements in the ICT field.
Our services include drafting and negotiating large scale ICT acquisitions, including appropriate service level agreements, ICT outsourcing, managed service provision, website design and development, Cloud service agreements, Software as a Service data protection issues and social media issues. We work closely with the Employment team on IT issues, including acceptable use policies for mobile working, Bring Your Own Device, social media usage and Acceptable Use Policies for ICT generally.
On the contentious side, not only do we act on ICT contractual disputes, but also on matters such as e-disclosure, obtaining Norwich Pharmacal orders for disclosure against ISPs, online defamation and claims arising from misuse of social media.
