Peter Brewer is a practicing solicitor and a partner with national firm Clarke Willmott LLP. He joined Clarke Willmott in 2015, having worked in another large national law firm. In Peter’s current role he leads Clarke Willmott’s commercial litigation team in their Birmingham office, a role he has held since January 2018.
Peter has over 20 years’ experience as a commercial litigation solicitor and has particular expertise in dealing with and resolving shareholder disputes. Peter also deals with contractual disputes, the enforcement of restrictive covenants, partnership disputes and banking litigation.
In his solicitors practice, Peter regularly litigates in the High Court and has had some of the judgements he has obtained reported in the law reports. Peter is recommended in the Legal 500 for Commercial Litigation in the West Midlands.
In the course of his career as a solicitor, Peter has attended a large number of mediations as an advocate.

Mediation Experience
Peter attempts to facilitate a negotiation using probing questions to assist the parties in clarifying their positions with a view to assisting them reach a settlement. In terms of the cases Peter has mediated, they are varied, but some key examples include:
- Mediating on a complex property dispute
- Mediating on a dispute between former business partners
- Mediating on an unfair prejudice petition relating to the proper distribution of assets in a property development company
- Mediating on a contractual dispute where one of the parties was unrepresented
- Mediating on a number of misfeasance claims between insolvent companies and their former directors
