James advises clients across a range of sectors on all areas of dispute resolution.

James is a Solicitor in Clarke Willmott’s Bristol commercial litigation team. James advises across a range of commercial disputes including professional negligence, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duties, hidden commission claims, shareholder disputes (including s.994 unfair prejudice claims), intellectual property, debt recovery, claims for defamation and partnership disputes.

James joined Clarke Willmott in 2018 as a paralegal and trained with the firm before qualifying in 2022. Previously, he completed an undergraduate degree in International Relations & Politics at Coventry University and then attended the University of the West of England where he obtained his GDL and LPC.

  • Active in Clarke Willmott’s Sport sector group working for clients such as sports clubs, players associations and sports agencies.
  • Regularly advises on commercial disputes arising from employment contracts.
  • Regularly advising a large, national energy supplier on debt recovery and breach of contract claims (both as claimant and defendant).
  • Acted for a professional cricket county in a breach of contract dispute.
  • Acted for a multi-national manufacturer in a dispute for hidden commission in energy supply contracts.
  • Acting for an energy supplier in a regulatory appeal in the First-Tier Tribunal.
  • Advised a marine contractor on a dispute related to post-termination restrictions.
