Clarke Willmott Environmental Policy
Our Commitment
The United Nations has stated in no uncertain terms, climate change is the defining crisis of our time. Combined with the rapid depletion of natural resources and substantial waste generation, society is faced with an existential challenge that demands urgent resolution.
As a responsible business, we recognise our role in shaping a sustainable future. Our commitment to environmental protection extends across our operations and behaviours. By fostering a culture of environmental respect, we aim to lead by example within our sector and build a sustainable business.
Our Strategy
We are committed to the Science Based Targets initiative’s (SBTi) Corporate Net-Zero Standard and to setting robust emission reduction targets at the pace and scale required by climate science. Care for the environment shall be applied to every aspect of our activity and is a shared responsibility across our organisation.
- We have committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2040 and have received approval from the SBTi.
- Our near-term targets include the reduction of scopes 1&2 by 50% and scope 3 by 25% by 2030.
- We will work with our supply chain and support our clients in achieving their own net zero ambitions.
- We will support our employees in minimising their individual carbon footprint while also contributing to the overall reduction of the firm’s environmental impact.
- We will adhere to all legislative requirements.
- Our Green Steering Group, comprising our Head of ESG and three Senior Management Team members, formulates our environmental strategy, ensures senior level coverage, and integrates environmental impact into business decisions.
Our Policy
To achieve our strategic goals, we commit to the following actions:
- Continually improve our Environmental Management System (EMS) to enhance our environmental performance. Our EMS is certified to ISO 14001:2015.
- Annually measure and analyse our carbon footprint and track progress against targets.
- Comply with all environmental legislation, standards, and codes of practice applicable to our business.
- Review our supply chain’s sustainability credentials.
- Promote the use of recyclable, sustainable and renewable materials.
- Use renewable energy where possible and implement energy-efficient practices.
- Educate employees and support clients and suppliers on environmental issues.
- Minimise pollutants to water, land, and air.
- Reduce risks to the public and employees from our operations.
- Continuously review operational activities to align with our strategic aims.
- Our Green Team drives our firmwide commitment through education, communication, and local implementation.
This policy is communicated to all colleagues, suppliers and sub-contractors and is made available to the public. Revisions will be incorporated as needed and shared with all interested parties.
The next review is scheduled for June 2025.
