IT Developer (12 Month Fixed Term Contract) – Firm Wide

The IT Developer role is a 12-month fixed term contract position that can be performed on a full time (37.5 hours per week) or part time basis (30 hours per week). Reporting into our IT Infrastructure & Applications Manager, you will work as part of a wider team of 6 and be responsible for implementing, maintaining and improving the various IT systems within our Firm. You will look to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall performance of our systems.

As the IT Developer you will:

  • Create well crafted, scalable and resilient solutions used by all employees of the Firm.
  • Own the delivery of IT systems into the firm, ensuring a smooth integration.
  • Participate in sprint planning to deliver regular iterations.
  • Provide 3rd tier support to resolve issues with our line of business systems.
  • Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve reliability and scalability.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, data protection regulations, and promote best practices for software development.
  • Collaborate with users to clarify requirements and taking corrective action for issues.

Stay up-to-date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in DevOps to drive innovation and enhance the firm’s technological capabilities.

This role is right for you if:

You are commercially minded, curious and innovative with at least 2 years’ experience in an IT Developer role. Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is desirable but not essential. Some of the technical knowledge we are seeking includes:

  • Strong proficiency in ASP.NET, C#, SQL Server/T SQL, Azure DevOps and GIT. Working knowledge of JavaScript, Soap and Rest services, SSRS.
  • Experience using message bus architecture such as Azure ServiceBus / NServiceBus
  • Practical experience with cloud platforms, automation tools, and CI/CD pipelines is essential
  • Understanding of Agile/Scrum project management methodology
  • Experience in identifying areas for optimization, streamlining processes, and driving efficiency is desirable.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to address technical issues and system failures promptly. Experience in root cause analysis and implementing effective solutions is crucial.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential to interact with stakeholders and senior management effectively.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and regulatory requirements is crucial for an IT Developer in a law firm setting.
