We are recruiting Business Development Executive on a 12-month fixed term contract basis to join our Business Development and Marketing team in our Taunton office. As the Business Development Executive, you will be joining a friendly, and supportive team of 12. This is a highly varied role that will give you a unique opportunity to broaden your experience, you’ll be supporting with a host of activities that include networking events, research activities, supporting with client enquiries, and supporting with Business Development plans.

Most of our people choose to work in a hybrid fashion, working from home and attending our offices on occasion. Our offices are in Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Southampton, and Taunton.

Day to day, you’ll be successful in this role by:

  • Working as part of the Business Development Team (within the broader Business Development and Marketing Team) you will work with key stakeholders to provide direct support to our nationally recognised Agriculture & Food Sector team and support office-wide BD initiatives.
  • Supporting teams and individual fee earners as they develop their annual and shorter-term business development plans.
  • Acting as a business partner for teams and individual fee earners, providing support across a wide range of business development activities.
  • Organising business development meetings and maintain action lists.
  • Identifying local events to be attended by the fee earners from sources including organisations such as the local referrers and professional networks. Maintaining and updating the Events Register and databases post event with meeting notes, details of people met and event follow up activities.
  • Assisting fee earners with business research.
  • Maintaining profiles for office fee earners and update the profile databank and accordingly. Liaising with digital marketing team to update website where necessary.
  • Supporting teams in the preparation of submissions for legal directories.
  • Responding to new client enquiries in a timely and effective manner.
  • Collating information to assist with preparation of bids, tenders, proposal documents, team sheets, client briefing documents and preparing first draft of information where appropriate.
  • Ensuring that the Clarke Willmott brand is adhered to when producing documents and client facing materials.
  • Managing and co-ordinating the distribution of news releases, feature articles and other materials that will promote and explain the business to clients and potential clients via the media, and to follow-up on these as appropriate.
  • Working with the central Clarke Willmott comms team members and agency support to create marketing collateral.
  • Organise a programme of relationship building meetings with journalists and key spokespeople to promote the Firm’s services; brief the Firm’s spokespeople in advance of the meetings, attend the meetings and follow up where necessary.

You may also be involved with other BD activities such as client satisfaction surveys and other relationship management tools. We will expect you to be active in proposing ways to develop the business growth of the team.

You will be expected to develop an in-depth understanding of our services to understand the sector and advise clients appropriately.

It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures.

This role is right for you if:

  • You may have 1 or 2 years of experience in a similar role or, currently working in a law firm and looking for a change
  • You have excellent organisational skills.
  • You possess the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and management at Clarke Willmott.
  • You are a self-starter and able to work in a collaborative environment.
  • You have a proven track record of managing projects.
  • We may on occasion require you to attend networking events that fall outside of your working hours.
