We are seeking an Associate/Senior Associate to join our Corporate team in Southampton, handling a broad range of mergers & acquisitions and corporate finance transactions.

Most of our people choose to work in a hybrid fashion, working from home and attending our offices on occasion. Our offices are in Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Southampton, and Taunton.

About the role:

Our national Corporate & Commercial team is led by 18 Partners and has presence in our Southampton, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, London, Manchester and Taunton offices. In Southampton, you will be joining five Partners, a Senior Associate, an Associate, a Solicitor and further support staff.

You will be working with colleagues locally and nationally for a wide range of clients including many private companies and their owners in relation to M&A, equity funding and general corporate structuring work. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in larger deals acting for large national or international businesses. As a national corporate practice there is a good level of interaction and team working between our offices providing additional opportunities to develop your skills and experience.

The range and quality of our caseload makes it an exceptional base to develop you career in corporate law.

You will also be encouraged to take an active involvement in business development activities, building client relationships and helping to grow our already well-regarded practice.

This role will allow you to work flexibly, splitting your week between your home working environment and one of our offices.

It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures.

This role is right for you if:

We are looking for someone who can make an immediate impact, and the role would be well suited to a 2-10 year qualified ambitious lawyer who is looking to progress their career within corporate law.

As an experienced corporate lawyer, you will already have played a lead role in some transactions and acted as the principle assistant on other more complex ones. You will have built a solid foundation in mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance.

You’ll need a strong intellect to succeed in this role, so we will be looking for a corresponding level of consistent academic achievement. You’ll also need to show us that you have initiative, drive and great organisational skills. The work requires self-motivation, resilience and strong communication skills, both written and oral.

You will relish helping others and be eager to learn. We expect you to be someone who takes pride in your work and who will provide a first-class service to our clients, anticipating their needs in advance wherever possible, and paying meticulous attention to detail in all of your work.

Beyond your technical skills, you will have developed strong client management skills and have a strong interest in business development. Essentially, you will also be a genuine team player, looking to support others and share ideas and opportunities for the benefit of the team as a whole, enjoying and benefiting from the resulting success along with your colleagues.
