In this edition of In the Spotlight, we get to know Naomi Cunningham
Name: Naomi Cunningham
Job title: Partner
Area of expertise: Property Litigation
What is your background
I joined Clarke Willmott in June 2022 having previously worked at Womble Bond Dickinson (UK) LLP. I have a broad experience, gained over many years, in relation to the full spectrum of property disputes acting in both the public and private sectors. My particular focus is development disputes, and trying to avoid them occurring in the first place.
What do you most enjoy about your role
I enjoy finding solutions to problems, and the satisfaction of unlocking complex disputes so that transactions can proceed. Property law can throw up a huge range of issues, and so there’s a significant amount of variety in the work that I do. I particularly like to work in collaboration with my property colleagues and our clients, acting as a team to bring about the best result for the client.
What are the upcoming challenges for the house builder sector
There are a number of challenges looking forward, such as the current economic uncertainty and the fallout this creates in the housing market and industry changes such as the introduction of the New Homes Quality Board Code of Practice .
How do you help clients
I work as part of the wider property team to ensure that the risk of disputes arising is limited, by spotting potential issues before they turn into a problem. I have extensive experience in all forms of dispute resolution including mediation, expert determination and court proceedings, and so where disputes do arise, I work closely with clients to agree objectives and work to deliver those objectives.
